On November 13, 2012 Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group opened a new groundbreaking medical office facility to service their downtown and south county San Diego patients. The new building features cutting edge medical technology, as well as sustainable “green building” features including a large photovoltaic array on the building roof and parking garage which feeds energy into the SDGE grid, offsetting a portion of the building’s electricity usage with clean solar energy. The 66,365 SF three story medical center was the first LEED certified medical office building in San Diego, and offers primary and specialty care, laboratory, occupational health, optical, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology and urgent care – all in a comforting, healing environment, revolving around the historic Moreton Bay Fig Tree which was reportedly planted on the site in 1908 by famous landscape architect and “Mother of Balboa Park,” Kate Sessions.
